This site is a tribute to John Clemons. He is a much loved Husband, Father, Grandpa, Brother and friend, and will always be remembered by everybody that knew him.
As FLT John Clemons (Clem) he worked on 39 Squadron flying Canberras then on to 41 Squadron flying Jaguars. He left the RAF in 1986 and went to Saudi Arabia as a QFI. In 1990, having taken his civilian pilot exams he became an instructor for the CAA in Oxford training airline pilots. In 1996, he became a Flight Examiner. John retired from fulltime work in 2009 but continued doing flight tests until 2014 when they moved to Norfolk. A working career in the air for 52 years!
In recent years he threw himself in to rural life. He became a share holder of The Fox and was on the committee for the History Society. In-fact he was hanging up bunting for the History Society the day before he became ill. His ‘piers de resistance’ of his country life was his sit on mower!!!
In his personal life he loved Vivienne with all his heart. They were married for 51 years and just weeks before he passed away they had the most romantic photoshoot as a delayed Golden Anniversary present from Xanthe and I. They were the most solid loving couple I know and I am proud to call them my parents.
He was a doting father to his three girls Michelle, Xanthe and Jacinth and loving Grandpa to Bethany, Joseph, Freya and Phoebe. In the months before his death he had been researching the family ancestry with Bethany, saw Joseph start University, Freya achieved amazing GCSE results and Phoebe represented England in the Dance World Cup. He was always immensely proud of his family.
To me he was just my Daddy. I remember aged about 10 he taught me the value of elbow-grease and getting stuck in. He gave me my passion for DIY and was always at the end of the phone giving step-by-step advice. He was as proud as I was that following telephone instructions I was able to change the bath taps and plug and it held water without leaking!!!
You gave the squeeziest hugs and I will miss you so much. Thank you for everything Daddy. I love you. xx
We have such fond memories of the different social gatherings, trips to the desert, the Dhahran expedition (caution when the flag was raised !) and watching Ben and Jacinth having so much fun together, growing up in Riyadh.
John was such a lovely man he will be missed by his family and friends. My thoughts are with Vivienne at this sad time .
In memory of our wonderful friend John. We had such fun on 41 Squadron flying Jaguars and the holiday we all spent together. After many years apart, we met again recently and our friendship had not changed. Our deepest sympathy to Vivienne and family.
